The Portal short films were created with the intention of blending cinema and fashion to provide an origin story for the brand. Christopher Parras the director and founder of Grit & Stones filmed the short films with minimal resources and an iPhone as a homage to the DIY scene. Combining his various skills acquired throughout the years he brought his vision to life while immersing the audience into a fantasy/abstract world, which continues to be revisited with new releases in the store. The short stories/films continue to add to the mythology of The Portal. The short films contain various nods to David Lynch, Nine Inch Nails, The Silent Hill franchise, and Guillermo del Toro along with the surrealism art movement and found footage genre. If no one gives you a chance, you sometimes just have to do it yourself.
